Not so new, but the popular trend of a tattooed sphynx cat is happening in the world. It appears that it started in Russia by a Russian tattoo fanatic.
Due to the fact that Sphynx cats have no fur, some people came to the idea that it would be cool to tattoo them. Aleksandr Purtov is a tattoo artist who worked in Ekaterinbourg, Russia, and decided to make his sphynx cat a ‘gangster’.
He had to dose his cat named Demon with pain killers so he can tattoo him.
So far he made four tattoos on his poor cat. The tattoos he made are all typically worn by criminals in Russia.
“Of course I feel pity for doing it to him. It’s not like he wanted to do it himself. He has a different skin, so tattoos are applied differently,” Aleksandr said.
Aleksandr also says that he hopes that this is not too painful for his cat, but apparently he still does it. Demon usually recovers well from the anesthesia. The tattooed sphynx cat is apparently suffering because they have very sensitive skin.
Elizabeth Skorynin who is the head of an animal rehabilitation center is very concerned about this trend. She adds that anesthesia is bad for Sphynx cats and some can’t even survive it.
But, this trend continues in Ukraine. Elena Ivanickaya a bodybuilder has tattooed her sphynx cat with an Egyptian-style design. This proves that it’s not just one person who does this, there are people who believe that there is nothing wrong with tattooing your cat.
Another tattoo artist has made a matching tattoo for his cat and him.
What do you think about this trend? Would you do this to your cat?
